What Office Supply Are You?

(... even though I don't work in an office.)

Thanks, Denise. That was fun :)

You Are a Coffee Mug

You have loads of energy and stamina. You can zip through the most boring of tasks with complete enthusiasm.

You are also great at motivating a group. You are a fearless leader.

You are efficient and productive. You don't put off tasks or procrastinate. You actually enjoy working.

You would make a good small business owner or startup employee. If a job requires blood, sweat, and tears - then you have some to give.

International Sign

I was pleasantly surprised to see the international sign for nursing posted outside of a woman's lounge in a Nordstrom's yesterday. Here's the history of this fairly new symbol. It was so nice to have a private, clean place to sit and feed Oona instead of sneaking into a dressing room or out in the open (which I normally do... however, the little bug has gotten very curious these days, and without warning, pulls off to look around herself leaving me to quickly try and cover up! Gotta get me a "hooter hider," as one mom in our play group jokingly refers to her nursing cape. I think etsy's got some cute ones.... wish I sewed!)

Frozen Peas!!

...For what you ask??

Let me put it to you this way: Here's how an email from Tim to his co-workers read:

"On Friday I will be out of work. I will be having a medical procedure that should permanently limit the number of my financial underage dependents to its current value of 3."

Yes, it has been a weekend of frozen peas! Poor guy.

Maple Sugaring Field Trip

Today, I had the good fortune of chaperoning Ezra's kindergarten field trip to learn about maple sugaring. Production of this delicious natural sweetener occurs in our neck of the woods and only during the months of February, March and April. Sap flows only when there are freezing nights with warm days. Native Americans taught early settlers in the 1700s how to tap tree trunks, harvest the sap and then boil it to evaporate most of the water. It was a labor intensive and time consuming process which helped early Americans get through the "starvation" time of winter. It takes 10 gallons of sap to be boiled down into 1 quart of syrup! Our field trip culminated with sampling some delicious maple syrup over pancakes and popcorn outdoors... but my fingers were so cold and I forgot to take a photo. But, let me say, it was yummy!!

Solids!

A few days ago, Oona tried her first baby cereal and liked it! Even though at this point, it is just considered a "companion meal" (not really for nourishment, more for experimenting), the one tablespoon a day is a nice variation from the exclusive breast feeding we've been doing for 21 weeks.

Such a big girl!

The Great Escape

So, it had been a long winter here in New England... especially for this here summertime girl! Tim and I found a good deal on a flight so we pulled the kids out of school for 5 days and headed to Nana and Da's beautiful condo in Naples, Florida. So lovely, so warm! We were giddy as we disembarked the plane glimpsing the first of many palm trees. Even with the business of traveling with a 7 year old, 6 year old and a 4 1/2 month old, it managed to be relaxing and recharging. I'll let the photos tell the rest:

On the way to the pool

Early morning fishing

New 'Hannah' sun hat

Sun protection (no sunscreen until 6 months)

Dinner outside!

Boat ride at Naples Zoo

Making a home for the lizard caught by Noah

He named him "Gecky"

A visit from Uncle Frank

So sad to leave!
