not tonight, honey, i've got a headache
I haven't really felt up to blogging for a while... due to these darn headaches I've been having for a couple of weeks! Ugh. I had 2 scary episodes where my vision actually got distorted, and I saw jagged lines and stars (for over 20 minutes!), and then felt sick (headache, dizzy, weak) for the rest of the day. One happened while I was teaching, and the other a week later just while I was shopping. The whole thing's got me feeling anxious, which isn't helpful since it is probably triggered by feeling stressed out in the first place. I ended up calling my doctor and she had me see an ophthamologist. They both believe that I am experiencing something called "classic migraines with aura." Not fun. I am just supposed to take excederin when I feel them coming on and see if I can notice what is triggering them. Even though, I haven't had a "migraine" in a week, I am still having neck aches and headaches. Sigh. So, now I think I am going to try the chiropractic route to see if that helps. or yoga. or a chill pill :)

Snow Bound (again)

Woke up to 10 inches covering the ground.
No school. No work.
Spent time re-organizing the toys in the boys bedroom.
Baked banana chocolate-chip muffins for the morning and made nana's twice baked potatoes and chicken fingers for dinner.
N & E played outside for over 2 1/2 hours with the neighbors.
Brownies now cooling on the stove.
That's New England, for ya.

Out of the Burbs... into the Brick
School schedules, work schedules, and wintertime daily routines in the house had me craving a day-trip outta here! With our Saturday open, we decided to drive up to an old New England college town that Tim and I frequented back in the day. Portsmouth, New Hampshire (about a 45 minute drive) was just what we needed.
We stopped in for lunch at one of our favorite quirky haunts. The Friendly Toast is known for its funky atmosphere, mismatched dishes and flatware, creative eats, and huge portions.
Ann, I thought of you with this one!
After lunch, we walked down to the public park that overlooks the water.
And found some treasure...
The boys each got to pick out a small toy from a cool shop that resembles the sorely missed Archie McPhee's
A nice soy vanilla latte to round out the day!

First work week done!
It went well. I am beat! Thanks for the cool lesson ideas, Jen. I ended up using them all (bumble bee tag, flag tag and bean bag darts.) Keep sending ideas my way, girls! The Life Skills class was interesting. A big group, lots of energy and voice. I am hoping to move this class into a really meaningful and fulfilling direction. Now, back to being mom :)
Have a great weekend everyone! xo
